To get started thinking about your health, we want to think of prevention or managing diseases to prevent complications. Here are a few things you want to ensure you stay on top of:
Schedule your annual check-up with your primary care doctor. It’s okay to schedule it months in advance if the office allows it. Some offices don’t have the appointments when you need them.
Everything starts with your mouth. Think about it :) Most insurance covers two exams, one every six months. Generally, they clean your teeth to ensure everything is in working order. If you don’t have insurance, a dental school clinic or community health center may offer services at a discount.
Starting looking into other specialty services that you have interest in, like vision, OB/GYN, etc.
Your primary care doctor should perform some routine screening exams as well during your physical, such as:
Cholesterol
Blood pressure
Diabetes (A1C)
Anemia
Nutritional deficiencies
